Miles and Other’s Smile’s

Miles and Other’s Smile’s is an incredible catalogue of homemade fashions, music culture and an intimate partnership. Amelia began collating the archive that her mother had passed to her in 2014.  Amelia discovered the photographs, letters and memorabilia in boxes and leather-bound albums in her childhood home. It is a large collection of over 400 vernacular photographs made between 1978 and 1983 by her mother Yvonne Taylor, and her boyfriend at the time, Dennis Sheldrick, who has since sadly passed away. They had photographed each other during their time as ‘New Romantics’ in their bedrooms and hotel rooms before heading to club nights across the country. Miles and Other’s Smile’s is now the basis of Amelias postgraduate research.

Miles and Other’s Smiles was exhibited at The Open Eye Gallery as part of ‘The Time We Call Our Own’ Exhibition. The Project is still in progress and is the basis of Amelia’s postgraduate research. Get in touch to discuss the collection.
